How does Mama Edo’s Stories work?

Mama Edo’s Stories is a children’s African storytelling and cultural mail club.

When you join, your child receives a beautifully prepared A5 heritage pack through the post. Each pack is designed to help children connect with African stories, culture, history, food, language, values and imagination in a joyful, screen-free way.

You can choose from three subscription options:

  • Monthly Subscription

  • 6-Month Heritage Journey Pass

  • 1-Year Legacy Circle Pass

What is included in each monthly pack?

Each monthly heritage pack includes a selection of carefully designed cultural items, such as:

  • an illustrated African storybook

  • a personal letter from Mama Edo

  • a family-friendly African recipe card

  • a collectible heritage or history card

  • a cultural activity, puzzle, word search or reflection task

Each pack is designed to feel exciting, meaningful and collectible.

What subscription options are available?

There are three main options.

Monthly Subscription

This is the most flexible option.

You pay monthly and your child receives one heritage pack each month. This is a good option if you want to try Mama Edo’s Stories without committing to a longer plan.

6-Month Heritage Journey Pass

This gives your child six months of African stories, culture, history and screen-free family connection.

Your child receives one A5 heritage pack each month for six consecutive months. In the first month, your child also receives the Mama Edo’s Heritage Passport, which they can use to collect cultural stamp stickers linked to each monthly theme.

This option is ideal for families who want to build a steady cultural routine at home.

1-Year Legacy Circle Pass

This is our most premium option.

Your child receives 12 months of Mama Edo’s Stories heritage packs, with one pack delivered each month for a full year.

The 1-Year Legacy Circle Pass also includes special Month 1 keepsake bonuses:

  • the Mama Edo’s Heritage Passport

  • cultural stamp stickers

  • the Keeper of Stories Archive Binder

The archive binder allows your child to store and treasure their story booklets, recipe cards, history cards and letters across the year.

This option is ideal for grandparents, aunties, uncles, godparents and families who want to give a meaningful long-term cultural gift.

What is the difference between the monthly, 6-month and 1-year options?

The Monthly Subscription gives the most flexibility.

The 6-Month Heritage Journey Pass gives your child a longer cultural journey and helps families build a regular storytelling routine.

The 1-Year Legacy Circle Pass is the most complete experience. It gives your child a full year of African stories, culture and keepsake learning, with premium Month 1 bonuses.

Are the 6-month and 1-year options paid upfront?

Yes, the 6-month and 1-year options are designed as longer subscription passes.

The 6-Month Heritage Journey Pass covers six months of monthly heritage packs.

The 1-Year Legacy Circle Pass covers twelve months of monthly heritage packs.

Please check the payment and renewal details shown at checkout before completing your order, as your checkout page will confirm the exact plan, price and billing cycle selected.

Do the 6-month and 1-year subscriptions renew automatically?

Some subscription plans may renew automatically depending on the option selected at checkout.

If your plan is shown at checkout as a recurring subscription, it may renew at the end of the selected period unless you cancel before the next renewal date.

For example:

  • a monthly subscription may renew monthly

  • a 6-month subscription may renew every 6 months

  • a 1-year subscription may renew yearly

You can manage, pause, skip or cancel your subscription through your customer account where available.

When will my first pack arrive?

Our monthly subscription window runs from the 1st to the 26th of each month.

If you sign up between the 1st and 26th, your first story pack will usually be included in the following month’s dispatch.

For example:

  • Sign up between 1st–26th May: receive the June story pack

  • Sign up between 1st–26th June: receive the July story pack

  • Sign up between 1st–26th July: receive the August story pack

This gives us time to prepare, print, personalise and pack each monthly edition with care.

What happens if I sign up after the 26th?

If you subscribe after the 26th of the month, your first pack will usually be included in the next available monthly dispatch cycle.

For example, if you sign up on 28th May, your first pack may be included in the July story pack dispatch, unless extra June packs are available.

When are the packs dispatched?

Monthly packs are usually dispatched from the 1st working day of each month.

If the 1st falls on a weekend or UK bank holiday, dispatch will begin on the next working day.

Please note that the dispatch date is when we begin sending packs out. It is not a guaranteed delivery date.

How long does delivery take?

Once your pack has been dispatched, estimated delivery times are:

  • UK standard delivery: 2–5 working days

  • UK tracked delivery, where available: 1–3 working days

  • International delivery, where available: 5–10 working days

Delivery times are estimates and may vary during busy postal periods, school holidays, Christmas, bank holidays or unexpected postal delays.

Can I buy Mama Edo’s Stories as a gift?

Yes. Mama Edo’s Stories makes a beautiful gift for children, grandchildren, godchildren, nieces, nephews and family friends.

It is especially meaningful for families who want children to grow up connected to African stories, culture, identity and heritage.

The 6-Month Heritage Journey Pass and 1-Year Legacy Circle Pass are especially suitable as gifts because they give the child a longer cultural experience over time.

What age is Mama Edo’s Stories suitable for?

Mama Edo’s Stories is designed for children who enjoy stories, activities and receiving exciting post.

It is especially suitable for primary-aged children. Younger children may enjoy the pack with adult support, while older children may enjoy reading the stories, collecting the cards and learning more about African culture.

Is this a screen-free activity?

Yes. Mama Edo’s Stories is designed to be a screen-free monthly ritual.

Each pack encourages reading, storytelling, family conversation, cultural learning, cooking, puzzles and creative activities away from tablets and television.

Can siblings share one pack?

Yes. One pack can be enjoyed by more than one child, especially if families read the story together, complete the activities together or cook the recipe together.

However, if each child would like their own personalised letter, passport stamps and keepsake items, you may prefer to order separate subscriptions.

Can I cancel my subscription?

Yes. You can cancel your subscription at any time.

Cancelling your subscription stops future renewal payments.

If your next payment has already been taken, or if your pack has already been personalised, prepared, packed or dispatched, your cancellation may apply from the following billing cycle.

To avoid being charged for your next renewal, please cancel at least 3 working days before your next renewal date.

Can I pause or skip a month?

Where available, you may be able to pause or skip a monthly delivery through your customer account.

Please make any changes before your next renewal payment is processed and before the monthly cut-off date.

Can I change my delivery address?

Yes. Please update your delivery address through your customer account or contact us before the monthly cut-off date.

Changes made after the cut-off may apply to the following month’s pack instead.

Please make sure your address is correct, as we cannot be responsible for delays or lost orders caused by an incorrect or incomplete address.

Do you ship outside the UK?

Yes, we currently ship worldwide where delivery options are available.

International customers are responsible for any customs duties, import taxes or local charges applied by their country.

What should I do if my pack has not arrived?

If your pack has not arrived within 10 working days of dispatch, please contact us with:

  • your full name

  • your order number

  • your delivery address

  • the email address used at checkout

We will look into the issue and advise you on the next steps.
